What You Should Know About Dental and Vision insurance plans
It's probably no surprise to you that dental and vision are some of the most common benefits that Medicare beneficiares are looking for. Many people don’t realize that there are affordable plan options that will help you avoid paying for high-cost dental care and expensive glasses and contacts out of pocket.
If you get your teeth cleaned two times per year and have an occasional need for a filling or other dental care, you will save money by having dental insurance and using an in-network dentist.
A good plan will have a very large network with plenty of dentists available in their area. People are often surprised to see their own dentist already listed!
Vision insurance is an even more simple decision. If you wear glasses or contacts, you will throw away hundreds of dollars purchasing either without insurance. You can get a vision plan for under $11 per month, making it much cheaper to pay premiums than to pay for glasses out of pocket.
Take a look at the plans in your area and see if your dentist and vision care providers are in-network. Here's what to do: CLICK HERE to go the company site Enter your name, zip code, date of birth and information for any other family members who will also be on the plan.
**If you have a spouse who will also be covered, and one of you is under age 65, enter their information FIRST.
Scroll down and click on “View Plans”.
There will be several dental plan options for you to review. I recommend the Premier Choice Plan or Gen Basic. (You won’t see both. The plans you see will depend on your age and the state you live in.) Click the red link that says, “Brochure-Plan Benefits”
*Don't forget to look up your dental and eye care providers to make sure they are in-network
These dental and vision plans are most popular for these reasons:
You can enroll and request an effective date for any day of the month, which means if you need coverage tomorrow, you can enroll today and be covered tomorrow!
No waiting periods. Unlike other plans, there is no 3, 6, or 12 month period of paying premiums before the plan covers things like root canals, crowns, and dentures.
Network dentists to choose from. If you haven't watched my video, network discounts are a huge factor in reducing dental costs, but you have to use a network dentist.
If you like the benefits, price and your providers are in the network, you can easily enroll from there!
If your dentist or eye doctor is not in network, just send me their name and zip code and I would be happy to check other plans for you!
