The Coronavirus Is Making People More Likely to Buy Life Insurance
It is interesting to note that just as Life Insurance carriers have been clamping down on applications, consumers' interest has gone up.
The Times They Are A'changin!
Life Insurance is not as easy to get as it was even 6 months ago. Many companies are holding out to let the dust settle a bit before widely soliciting again for applications.
Some companies are turning away applicants with a polite "let's hold off for now, but please feel free to apply later" message.
Some are insituting restrictions based on a person's past travel and their propensity to encounter frequent travelers. Other companies are being slower to approve applicants who are now considered to be in a "high risk group" according to the CDC (ie. those with the "underlying health conditions" we've heard so much talk of on the news lately.)
Not surprisingly, interest on the consumers' side has risen by about 25%. The coronavirus is bringing the reality of death before each one of us. It's no longer something that happens in a corner; it is before our eyes and ears daily.
An interesting article from Valuepenguin, authored by Chris Moon goes over these findings and is an interesting read for those of you whose interest has been piqued to start considering your own life insurance needs.
